I just purchased an aftermarket touch screen with digitizer on ebay for $17 USD from a Chinese seller. Will update here with item listing # if the item is successfully installed and works.

I just got my aftermarket screen today. One thing worth noting is that these aftermarket screens don’t have that thin adhesive shock absorbing stuff around the perimeter of the screen and it’s impossible to take it off the original screen and reuse it. I used pieces of weather stripping that I cut down thinner. This isn’t necessary for it to work, but it helps provide some protection.
I installed it about 3 hours ago and everything seems to work fine. How long it’s going to last is another story.
If interested, you can buy the screen from ebay seller mingxing200808 Item # 400709570325. I live in NE USA and amazingly I got my screen in a little over a week after I completed the purchase. Not bad.
BTW: for those that just need the digitizer, you can pick one up on ebay for just a coupe dollars, however I have no idea how hard it would be to remove the old one and replace the new one. Looks like it might be harder than just changing the whole screen+digitizer kit.
