The device will not turn on when the power button is pressed.

Underlying Causes

The battery may be dead or faulty. If this is the case, simply charging or replacing the battery should solve the issue.

The device may not be powering on due to a dead battery. Make sure the battery is fully charged by charging the device using the charging cable.

If the battery will not hold a charge even after charging, the battery might be damaged and need to be replaced. Follow the instructions on this guide to replace the battery.

The screen is showing a single frame and is not responding to user input.

The screen may be frozen due to software issues or a damaged screen. Soft or hard resetting the power on the device, updating the device to the latest software, or replacing the screen could solve the issue.

The screen could be frozen due to software issues related to the device. Try resetting the device.

If the screen of the device is frozen, the device may not be operating due to the device being out of date. Try performing a manual firmware update.

If the prior solutions do not work and the screen is in need of replacement, refer to the Screen Replacement Guide in order to replace the existing screen.

The device is unable to connect to GPS satellites.

The GPS may not be able connect to the satellites if the connection is obstructed by inclement weather, clouds, or a ceiling.

The device is unable to successfully install the latest software update.

The device may be unable to connect to the Garmin servers due to inclement weather or a damaged antenna.

If you are unable to update the device, the device may not be able to connect to the internet. If the device is unable to connect, the device may be in need to be plugged into a computer and updated directly from Garmin.

The device’s operating system could potentially be corrupted causing for the system to not update properly. Performing a factory rest could fix the problem.

The device may not be able to update because the antenna is unable to reach the satellite connection. Replacing the antenna could reestablish the connection to the satellites. Follow the instructions on this guide to remove and replace the antenna in the device.

The device is unable to pair via Bluetooth to cellphone.

The GPS device may not be updated to the latest software, or the device may simply need to be restarted.

The device may be unable to pair with the cellphone due to a failure in the Bluetooth start up. Restarting the device would reboot the Bluetooth system, and allow the cellphone to be repaired.
