The battery is draining much faster than it should.
Screen brightness has a large effect on your battery. When possible, keep your display brightness to a minimum to conserve battery life.
There are a couple of things that you can adjust in settings that can maximize battery life. Try enabling battery save mode, turning on the auto sleep feature, and turning off the Bluetooth wireless feature. One or all of these things should help to increase your battery life.
If your battery life has not improved after trying the suggestions above, it could be because you have an old battery. To fix this problem, you should replace the battery using this guide.
The screen is not turning on when the user presses the power button.
Your device may be out of battery. Pull back the weather cap at the bottom of the device and attach the power cord into the USB port. Plug the larger end of the USB into the AC adaptor or computer USB port.
If you find your device is stalled and not responding, a hard reset may need to be performed. To do this, hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Device will be restarted promptly.
The charger for the Edge 830 may be faulty. Try using the same cord to charge that uses the same USB port to verify it is restoring power to a familiar device. If the familiar device is not charging, it is likely that you need to purchase a new cord.
Plug the Garmin Edge 830 into a functioning power cord. If the device is unable to hold a charge the battery may need to be replaced.
The Bluetooth symbol does not appear and the mobile device does not show it is connected to Garmin EDGE 830.
The Garmin EDGE 830 can’t connect to your mobile device if you don’t allow it! Verify that the bluetooth connection setting is (enabled). Also confirm that the bluetooth connection setting on your individual mobile device is enabled as well!
The Navigation device only has the ability to connect to one device at a time. Access the settings on the Garmin EDGE 830 and verify that any other devices have been disconnected. Once confirmed, try to reconnect your device.
Once bluetooth connected, you can save your device on the Garmin EDGE 830 as friendly devices
My device is not in the desired language, and I am unable to decipher the words.
Navigate to settings marked by the symbol of three horizontal lines. Select the last item in the list of setting options. Within these next set of options, select the seventh option offered. In order to read the device, you must select the desired language.
My device is not picking up my current location.
Preface: Calibrate the electronic compass outdoors. Please do not stand near objects that influence magnetic fields. Ex: Vehicles, buildings, overhead power lines.
Navigate to the setting page on the Garmin EDGE 830, symbolized by three horizontal lines. Access the systems page within the setting menu. While on the systems page, select Calibrate Compass. Then follow the on-screen instructions for recalibration.
If your device is not displaying an accurate elevation level, navigate to the symbol of three horizontal lines and select Set Elevation. Enter the accurate elevation data for your current location and select the check mark. (Desired language).
