Introduction

This guide can also be used to modify the controller with a different type of joystick or to fix drift.

Before we start this guide, please turn off the controller and have a container set aside for the battery.

What you need

  • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the back case.
  • Gently pry the rear half of the shell off by hand.

  • Battery can be a hazard if punctured.
  • Use tweezers to slowly pull on the connector while wiggling until it releases from its port.

  • The 600mAh rechargeable battery must be stored safely while you continue with repair.
  • Peel the battery off of the motherboard.
  • Store the battery in a container at room temperature.

  • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the two screws that connect the motherboard to the case.

  • Remove the bracket that holds the bumpers in place by gently levering it out of its two holders on both sides.

  • Use a Philips #00 screwdriver to remove 6 screws holding the button panel to the controller.
  • Remove the button panel from the front case.

  • Grab the joystick from the base and then gently pull it up and off.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
