Introduction

I do NOT suggest anyone attempt this unless they have a high degree of experience fixing electronic devices, especially soldering on electronic boards.

What you need

Step 1

              Remove the bottom plate
  • Beyond the screws at the bottom, there is one that needs to be removed from the side, underneath the focus selector button. This is 1/5 screws holding the back.
  • Peel the leatherette back slightly on the back panel to access it.

Step 2

              Port Cover
  • To remove the port cover, peel back the leatherette on the front just enough to expose the plastic insert. Both the port cover and the insert will slide out.
  • After you’ve unscrewed the 2 screws next to the ports, of course ;)

Step 3

              Removing the back
  • Remove this last screw holding the back plate on the port side.
  • On the other side peel the top corner of the back plate to see the last screw you need to unfasten.
  • There are 5 screws in total holding the back to the camera: 2 screws next to the ports, 1 screw behind the port cover (left), and 2 on the other side, 1 of which also holds the bottom plate.
  • Gently remove the ribbon connecting the back to the main board.
