Step 1

              Remove spring and brackets
  • Remove the return spring by using needle nose pliers, a screwdriver, or other device. I removed the spring by the end of the front bracket (away from the mower handle). Lift up and away from the bracket, and the spring should come out.
  • Beware! The spring is very strong and injury could result if proper care is not exercised.
  • Remove the two bolts using a 7/16 socket.

Step 2

              Remove alternator wire
  • Push the metal tab closest to the black wire down
  • While pushing the tab down, pull the black wire out of the clip.
  • Disassembly is complete!

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
