What you need

Step 1

              Chock the wheels               
  • Before you begin, ensure the machine is powered down and cool to the touch.
  • Chock the wheels to prevent the machine from moving while you are working on it.

Step 2

              Turn off the ignition switches               
  • Flip the ignition switches on the motor and the handle bar into their “OFF” positions.

              Close the fuel valve               
  • Flip the fuel cutoff valve switch into the off position.

              Disconnect the spark plug               
  • Grab the plastic housing at the end of the spark plug wire.
  • Pull firmly to disconnect the wire from the spark plug.

              Remove the air cleaner cover               
  • Unscrew the wing nut on top of the air cleaner cover.

  • Remove the air cleaner cover.
  • This will make it easier to reach the throttle cable holder with a screwdriver.

              Remove the throttle cable               
  • Use a short Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw securing the throttle cable holder.

  • Lift the throttle cable up to a vertical position and pull it straight up to remove it from the throttle control lever.

              Remove the throttle control assembly               
  • Grip the black throttle control knob and pull it straight up and off of the control lever to remove it.

Step 10

  • Use a 7/16 inch socket with a 3/8 inch wrench to remove the two bolts and accompanying nuts securing the throttle control assembly from the handlebar.

Step 11

  • Remove the throttle control assembly.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
