Introduction

You will need to acquire a similar door strip to the one damaged. After acquiring it, you can remove the old one using a hammer or drill depending on nail type used. Older models use nails while new models will have screw nails to install. An aluminum/vinyl 3/4 in. x 7 ft. door strip is used in the guide. The hardest part is placing the door strip in a location where it will not stop the door from closing and be able to seal the door after it closes. A marker will be used to get the right placement for the door strip.

• To remove the damaged door strip, use one finger of the claw on hammer to loosen nails first.

• Pull the nails out using middle of claw. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each nail.

• Adjust the new weather strip to the door height using a cutting plier. Use measuring tape to get the accurate length.

• Close the door and lay the door strip on the wall to figure the placement of the door strip. Mark the end of door for induction.

• To start installing the weather strip, add the screw nails to the holes on the weather strip.

• Screw the nails into the weather strip using a drill driver.
• Make sure the drill is set to turn right to keep consistency. Keep space from the drill while holding the strip flat with your other hand.

• Hold the drill driver horizontally to drill the last screw.

• Test that your door weather strip securely seals your door. Make sure you can lock the door.

Close the door to test if there are any gaps between the door and weather strip. Make the weather securely seals the door.
