Introduction

Step 1

              Extracting the Hinge Cover               
  • CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide
  • NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer)
  • NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the computer.
  • Remove the hinge cover (see “Removing the Hinge Cover” on page 25 in the owner’s manual).

              Extracting the Keyboard               
  • Remove the keyboard (see “Removing the Keyboard” on page 27 in theowner’s manual).

              Remove Battery From the System Board               
  • Disconnect the coin-cell battery cable from the system board.

  • Remove the battery from the compartment on the system board by using a scribe or small screwdriver to lift one side of the battery at the notch in the plastic connector, being careful not to break the plastic.

  • Grasp the battery and pull it out of the battery compartment.

  • To install the coin-cell battery:
  • Insert the edge of the coin-cell battery into the plastic battery compartment under the lip on the compartment.
  • Carefully press the coin-cell battery into the compartment, being careful not to break the plastic.
