When the device is plugged in it does not charge or turn on.
If the device is not charging, then the charging port may need to be cleaned. The charging port can be cleaned by first turning off the device, and then using compressed air to blow any dust or debris out of the port.
If the device is not charging, then the charging wire may need to be replaced. You can order a new laptop charger from this link.
If the device does not turn on you should replace the battery by following this guide for replacing the battery.
When inserting a device into the audio jack, there is no response from the device.
If the device cannot not detect a device connected to the audio port, the port may need to be cleaned. The audio part can be cleaned by first turning off of the device and then using compressed air to blow any dust or debris out of the port.
If the port is not working, then it may need to be replaced. Replace the audio port by following this guide.
When the device is on it gets extremely hot, even causing the device to shut off.
If the device is overheating, then there may be too many applications running at once. You can check which applications are the most straining on your device by going to Settings> System>Battery. This screen will show you which applications are draining the battery the most.
If the air vents on the bottom of the Dell XPS are too dirty and/ or clogged, then the device may overheat. The air vents can be cleaned by first turning off the device and then using compressed air to blow the dust and debris out of the device.
If the cooling fan does not work, leading to the device overheating, you should replace the cooling fan by following this guide on how to replace the cooling fan.
When touching the trackpad or clicking the trackpad, there is no response from the computer.
If the trackpad is causing no response on the screen, then you may need to hard restart your device. Hold down the power button on the top right of the keyboard until the device begins to turn back on.
If the trackpad has lost connection, then the driver needs to be updated. To update the trackpad driver, follow the directions on this Microsoft help page.
If the driver has been replaced and the device is still unresponsive, then you should replace the trackpad itself.
When attempting to connect a bluetooth device, bluetooth fails to work.
If the bluetooth is not responding, then you may need to hard restart your device. Hold down the power button on the top right of the keyboard until the device begins to turn back on.
If the bluetooth will not connect, then the bluetooth driver may need to be updated. To update the bluetooth driver, follow the directions on this Microsoft help page.
When the user may want a newer SSD card model.
If the SSD Card no longer meets the needs of the user, first back up the information on the card into the hard drive, then follow this guide on replacing the SSD card.
