Introduction
This process will require a T5 Torx Screwdriver, an iFixit Opening Tool, Phillips #00 Screwdriver, and a replacement battery.
Batteries are what let your laptop hold power. A bad battery can lead to many problems. Here are some signs that your battery may need replacing:
- The laptop will not stay on, or cannot run without being plugged-in. Constant shutting down is a major sign of battery issues. The laptop will not charge properly. If the battery appears to have become swollen or to have leaked, BE EXTRA CAREFUL.
If your battery is swollen check out this article below:

Before starting the repair, swollen battery or not, unplug the device and let the battery’s charge reach 0%.
Remember that after you have successfully replaced the battery (which we are sure you will) please recycle it: How to Properly Recycle Your Old iPhone Battery
