Introduction

What you need

Step 1

              Back/Underside Panel

Turn the laptop upside down.
Make sure the laptop is turned off.
Use a T5 Torx Screwdriver to remove the ten 3 mm long screws from the perimeter of the back of the laptop.

Step 2

Open up the information panel door (on the middle of the back side).
While holding the door open, use a Phillips #00 Screwdriver to remove the two 10 mm long screws.

Step 3

Carefully lift the 2 corners of the back panel close to the hinge upwards, to release the whole panel.
Do not force the panel off. If it does not come off easily, try to use a plastic spudger where it is stuck.

Step 4

              Cooling Fan(s)

Use the Small Plastic Spudger to carefully disconnect the white connector from the black port.

Step 5

Use the Phillips #00 Screwdriver to remove the two 4 mm long screws.
The location of the 2 screws is different on each fan.
The left fan screw locations are circled in red.
The right fan screw locations are circled in orange.

Use the Phillips #00 Screwdriver to remove the two 4 mm long screws.

Step 6

With the screws removed, lift up on the fan and remove it from the laptop.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

I removed the fans for cleaning the dust. Now the left fan is always at 100%. Can anybody help me with that problem? Is it possible to somehow misconnect the fan? Or did I accidently did something to the temperature sensors?

I wonder if it broke by blowing air through it

Merci pour votre tuto fort bien construit. Pour toute intervention sur de l’électronique : être hors tension. 1/ débrancher secteur ET déconnecter la batterie. 2/ utilisez des matériels qui isolent de l’électricité statique (p.e., plaque a déployer sous le matériel). A défaut, éviter les pulls en laine polaire ou autres, les moquettes, les vêtements amples, les outils métalliques … 3/ Ne pas toucher les composants électroniques : dévisser puis soulever avec une spatule en plastique puis saisir les circuits par les côtés. Les poser sur un endroit sûr hors de la machine. 4/ prenez des photos avant et après (sauvegardez et classez-les : plus pertinent que la prise de notes). 5/ Ne posez pas d’outil sur la machine, ranger les vis par type (les photos peuvent aider a retrouver les bonnes) 6/ changer RAM en paires identiques : capacité et caractéristiques. 7/ nettoyez votre PC 2 fois/an : un bon refroidissement améliore les perfs, la surchauffe est mortelle. Un clavier dépoussiéré dessus / dessous redevient neuf.

En réponse aux précédents posts : je n’est rencontré aucun problème mais j’ai mis a jour le Bios et un autre utilitaire préconisés par Dell et tous les utilitaires demandés (8 je crois) par le service TAG.

Mon Dell XPS 15 7590 fonctionne a nouveau après avoir été bloqué par le BIOS suite a un encrassement dû aux poussières qui empêchaient le refroidissement : une sécurité du système plus qu’utile !

note 1 : le système m’a donné un QR code : mon smartphone a pu se connecter au service dépannage Dell avec 2 conseils malgré la fin de la garantie depuis 2 ans.

note 2 : mes ventilateurs vont un bruit irrégulier en position batterie malgré le dépoussiérage des ventilateurs démontés ainsi que la carte mère et le clavier.

Mais en usage nomade (batterie), les ventilateurs font un bruit intermittent.

PS : j’ai trouvé 2 rondelles sur mon bureau : sèches et cassées (environ 2.5cm de diamètre) j’ignore d’où elles viennent ? de mon XPS 15 ou pas ?

Est-ce cela qui fait que les ventilateurs sont parfois bruyants en usage batterie?
