Introduction

Before using this guide, review the troubleshooting page to ensure that the motherboard is the issue. In some cases, black screens and problems booting could be caused by a faulty battery. A punctured battery can cause a dangerous fire. If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.

The motherboard connects the hardware to the processor, a faulty motherboard will interrupt this connection and render the computer unusable, This can happen from water damage, dust, impacts, or normal wear and tear.

Before beginning, make sure to power off your phone completely and disconnect from any external power source.

What you need

Step 1

              Fan               
  • Turn the laptop upside down.
  • Unscrew ten 3 mm screws on the back cover with a Torx T5 screwdriver.
  • Remove two more 3 mm screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  • Use the Phillips #0 screwdriver to unscrew the three screws on each fan.

  • Use metal tweezers to carefully unplug the fan cables from the motherboard.

  • Remove the fans by gently lifting up the edges until the fans disconnect from the motherboard completely.

              Battery               
  • Using a Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the seven 3.5mm screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.

Step 6

  • Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
  • Be sure to use a plastic tool, not a metal one.

  • Lift the battery off the chassis.

              Motherboard               
  • Using both hands and plastic tweezers, disconnect the cables from the laptop base.

  • Use phillips #0 screwdriver to unscrew the screws connecting the motherboard and the laptop base.
  • Lift up the motherboard with the plastic fan holder on top of it.

  • Use T5 Torx screwdriver to unscrew the screws connecting the plastic fan holder and the motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
