What you need

              Keyboard               
  • Turn the computer over to remove the battery.
  • Slide the battery lock into the unlock position to release the battery.
  • Pull the battery out of it’s slot while holding the battery lock open.

Step 2

  • The hinge cover needs to be removed next. This can be done by using a plastic opening tool.
  • Take the plastic opening tool and insert it into the grove below the hinge cover.
  • Firmly leverage the plastic opening tool under the hinge cover and pull up. It should make a popping noise. Repeat these steps on the other hinge.

Step 3

  • Once both hinges are loosened open the computer up fully.
  • Use your plastic opening tool to loosen the plastic hinge cover located above the keyboard. Start on one side and work your way over to another.

Step 4

  • Once the plastic cover is removed, you need to locate the two screws holding the keyboard in place. The left one is located just above the escape key and the right one is located just above the delete key.
  • Use a number 0 bit driver to unscrew those.
  • If you did not remove the screws with a magnetic screw drivers then leave them in place and lift the keyboard itself up slowly to get them out safely.

Once the plastic cover is removed, you need to locate the two screws holding the keyboard in place. The left one is located just above the escape key and the right one is located just above the delete key.

Use a number 0 bit driver to unscrew those.

  • Before you can completely remove the keyboard from the computer you must detach the keyboard ribbon cable.
  • To do that you must put your finger slightly underneath the black bar and pull up slightly.
