Computer will not respond to the power button or charger. The device may not turn on when the power button is pressed.
The laptop may not power on or remain powered on without being plugged into the charger.
Device may not be charged. Plug in charger to replenish the drained battery.
If your battery will not hold a charge, here is how to replace it.
Press and hold power button for 10 seconds to boot computer.
If the power button light comes on but the laptop does not boot, remove battery and let sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Try powering on again.
If power button feels stuck it may be dirty. Remove it and clean it.
If power button still does not respond, it may need to be replaced.
The keyboard/key will not respond or the key(s) feel stuck or broken.
When using my keyboard a (some) key(s) feel stuck.
If only one key feels stuck or broken, attempt to gently tap the key to unstick it. If this does not work after several attempts, you’ll have to remove the key and possibly clean underneath the key(s).
If the key(s) is still unresponsive, you may need to replace the faulty components.
My entire keyboard on my laptop stopped working for some unknown reason.
Shut down your laptop. Unplug the power cord and remove the battery. Proceed by holding down the power button for approximately 30 seconds. After 30 seconds insert the battery. Plug in the power cord and start up as normal.
Remove the battery and immediately inserting back.
Multiple issues with my keyboard exist such as, double tapping instead of once, some keys were totally non-responsive, keys lagged, and delayed response.
Go to your laptop’s control panel. Proceed to region and language. A window will appear. Click keyboards and languages tab. Click change keyboards button. Another window will appear. Select default input language, under installed services there will be some added keyboards. Remove all keyboards. Add a new one as English. Reboot system and keyboard should be working.
If the issue persists, you may need to replace the keyboard.
The screen remains black even when the laptop is on.
Try rebooting your laptop.
If this issue persists, the display may need to be replaced.
Touchpad is frozen, and mouse will not move or appear
Try rebooting your device. If this does not solve the problem, continue reading.
Use a mouse to navigate to the Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices, find your touchpad, right click it then click “update drivers”.
My touchpad freezes and I have to connect an external mouse to do any work.
Plug in an external mouse and try one of the following:
Run the device manager and see if everything is installed correctly. Make sure you are running the correct drivers. You may need to reinstall them.
Re-install the touchpad drivers from the Dell Website.
If re-installing or updating the driver to the computer does not fix the issue, you may need to replace it.
