What you need
Step 1
Power down the PC.
- If your PC is on, shut it down.
- Unplug the PC from the wall.
- Disconnect the power cable from the tower, unplug keyboards, monitors, or any other devices, and remove any USB devices.
- Press the power button after completely shutting down the PC. This will “ground” the motherboard, preventing any short circuiting from occurring.

Step 2
Remove the computer's side panel.
- Lay the computer on its side so the panel faces up.
- Push the cover release latch at the back of the computer’s case. The cover should pop off and away from the computer.
- Make sure the computer is on its side before you begin replacing any parts.

Step 3
Remove the RAM
- Press down on both of the two secure tabs on each side of the RAM stick.
- When you simultaneously press each of the secure tabs, the RAM stick will move up and out of its slot.

Step 4
Re-install the new RAM
- Align the notch on the bottom of the RAM stick with the notch in the slot.
- To avoid damage to the RAM, press the stick straight down into the slot using equal force on each end of the stick.
- Insert the RAM stick into the slot until the stick snaps into position. If you insert the stick correctly, the secure tabs will snap into the notches on each side.
