What you need

Step 1

              Case               
  • Lay the Dell Optiplex GX260 down on a clean flat surface with the rear towards you.
  • Push the oval shaped buttons located on the top and bottom of the PC simultaneously and lift the case straight up.
  • Note: Some force may be required to push in the oval buttons open the PC case.

Step 2

              Power Supply               
  • Locate the power supply in the case.
  • Disconnect the AXT power cable to the motherboard.
  • Disconnect the P4 12 volt power cable from the motherboard.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the optical drive.
  • Disconnect the floppy drive power cable.
  • Disconnect the hard drive power cable.

Locate the power supply in the case.

Disconnect the AXT power cable to the motherboard.

Disconnect the P4 12 volt power cable from the motherboard.

Disconnect the power cable from the optical drive.

Disconnect the floppy drive power cable.

Disconnect the hard drive power cable.

Step 3

  • Remove the two Phillip screws holding the power supply into the the case and lift the power supply out.
  • When installing a new power supply ensure that the voltage selector is correctly set before you connect the mains cable.
  • Incorrect voltage settings will damage the power supply and may also cause other components to be damaged.

Step 4

  • Push down on the green tab with one hand.
  • With your other hand, grip the top of the power supply and pull back and up to remove from the case.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

In mine, the power supply was much longer due to a fan located on the front end. Same basic disassembly, however. There was a green tab at the front and it was difficult, but the power supply (with effort) did slide forward and out.
