Introduction

Make sure your current software is up to date before deciding to replace your motherboard.

Before beginning, make sure to power off your laptop completely and disconnect from any external power source.

What you need

Step 1

              Back Panel               

• Remove the six 6 mm screws from the back panel with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
• Loosen the four captive screws at the bottom using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
• The four screws on the bottom are captive screws and cannot be removed.

Step 2

• Pry out the back panel using the flat head side of the spudger.
• Do not insert the spudger more than half an inch when separating the bottom and right side of the back panel.

              Motherboard               

• Remove the screws holding the battery.

• Disconnect the battery ribbon connector.

• Disconnect the CPU fan ribbon.

Disconnect the CPU fan ribbon.

Step 6

• Disconnect the display screen ribbon connector.

Step 7

• Disconnect the blue ribbon connector.

Disconnect the blue ribbon connector.

Step 8

• Disconnect the blue and gold ribbon connectors.

Disconnect the blue and gold ribbon connectors.

Step 9

• Disconnect the speaker cable.

Disconnect the speaker cable.

Step 10

• Disconnect the WiFi card connections.

Disconnect the WiFi card connections.

Step 11

• Remove the screws securing the heat sink.

Remove the screws securing the heat sink.

Step 12

• Remove the heat sink.

Remove the heat sink.

Step 13

• Remove the motherboard screws.

Remove the motherboard screws.

Step 14

• Remove the motherboard.

Remove the motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
