What you need

Step 1

              Remove the Screws               
  • WARNING: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer. Follow the procedures in “Before You Begin”.
  • CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer).
  • CAUTION: Hard drives are extremely fragile. Exercise care when handling the hard drive.
  • Remove the two screws that secure the hard-drive cover to the computer base.

              Pry out te Hard-Drive Cover               
  • Pry out the hard-drive cover using your finger.

              Remove the Screws               
  • Remove the two screws that secure the hard-drive assembly to the computer base.

Step 4

              Disconnecting the Hard Drive Assembly               
  • Pull the pull-tab on the hard-drive assembly towards the right to disconnect the hard-drive assembly from the system board connector.

Step 5

              Lifting the Hard-Drive Assembly               
  • Lift the hard-drive assembly out of the computer base.

              Remove the Screws               
  • Remove the four screws that secure the hard drive to the hard-drive cage.

              Placing the Hard Drive               
  • Place the NEW hard drive in the hard-drive cage.

              Replace the Screws               
  • Replace the four screws that secure the hard drive to the hard-drive cage.

              Placing the Hard-Drive Assembly               
  • Place the NEW hard-drive assembly in the computer base.

              Connecting the Hard-Drive Assembly               
  • Slide and connect the hard-drive assembly to the system board connector.

              Replace the Screws

              Align the Tabs               
  • Align the tabs on the hard-drive cover with the slots on the computer base and snap the hard-drive cover into place.

  • Replace the two screws that secure the hard-drive cover to the computer base.
