Introduction

Before you start, power off your laptop completely and disconnect it from any external power sources.

What you need

  • Close the computer and turn it over so that the bottom of the computer is facing up.

  • Remove the nine 7.6mm PH0 screws on the back cover.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to remove the cover from the back of the computer.

  • Remove the three small 4.7mm PH0 screws that secure the battery.

  • Move the hard drive cable away from the battery.
  • You want to make enough clearance to remove the battery without it catching on the hard drive cable.

Step 6

  • Lift the battery up and toward yourself to remove it, revealing the back of the keyboard underneath.

Step 7

  • Disconnect the cable for the power and volume buttons from the motherboard.
  • You may need to use a spudger to remove the cable from the routing guides by the speaker.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
