Laptop will not turn on, screen stays blank.

If the laptop is not turning on, it is possible that the battery is dead. Plug the laptop into an outlet using the power adapter. Be sure that the outlet functions properly.

Try to run the laptop form the charger only. Plug the laptop into an outlet using the power adapter. Be sure that the outlet functions properly. If this does not work, the charger may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

Computer does respond right away when an application is clicked on.

Open Task Manager and look towards the column labeled “CPU” and close applications that are taking extensive memory despite not being in use.

Check for corrupted files using Windows File Explorer which will attempt to fix any corrupted files.

Open the back of the laptop and look for flat sticks, these are your RAM. Check if they are properly seated into their slots. If they are, it may be a case that you need more RAM.

Applications and web browser pages take a very long time to load.

Background applications can cause the computer to run slowly. Close out any background applications in the task manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL, choose the application that is not being used and end the program. If this does not work, try updating and restart the computer.

It is possible that the laptop has a malware infection that could be causing issues. Run Windows Defender to detect any potential issues and follow the prompts to remove the malware.

If all else fails, this computer may have insufficient RAM to run the desired application. Using tools, open the bottom of the laptop and look for flat sticks, these are your RAM. Check if they are properly seated into their slots. If they are, it may be a case that you need more RAM.

Computer won’t connect to wireless devices.

Re-enter credentials such as username and password again and make sure they are correct.

Router may simply need to be restarted. Unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait 10 seconds, and plug back in to restart it.

Inside the laptop there is an actual internet card that allows the laptop to connect to the wirelessly. It may be the case that this needs to be replaced by opening the laptop and changing it out with a new one.

Computer turns off without being prompted and without warning.

If the laptop does not charge, overheats or if you open up the laptop where the battery is may be swollen due to a buildup of gas and heat.

If the battery is damaged or faulty in any way, it will need to be replaced by purchasing a new one that is compatible with your device.

Open the laptop and check if the fan is covered in dust. If so, clean it using a compressed air can and spray around the fan until the dust is gone. Water will cause damage to the laptop.

Display won’t turn on, but battery charge still illuminates.

If the computer has not been restarted recently, this may cause the display to malfunction. Click on the Start menu, under Power choose Restart.

If the display is not turning on, it is possible that the battery is dead. Plug the laptop into an outlet using the power adapter. Be sure that the outlet functions properly.

Using tools, open the bottom of the laptop and find the blue or green flat sticks. Open the back of the laptop and look for flat sticks, these are your RAM. Check if they are properly seated into their slots, adjust if needed.

Fan is excessively loud, more than usual.

Remove the top of the keyboard so the motherboard and other components are showing, and locate the fan and spray compressed air to remove the dust. Do not apply to much air to the fan so there is no further damage around the area.  https://tinyurl.com/bxr38uh9

Remove the top of the keyboard and locate the fan, remove the screws, and wire harness from the mother board and mount the new fan and screw in no plug into the motherboard.

Locate a driver’s webpage for the chipset in computer and download one that is safe. Once this is done you can change the speed of the fan so it can keep the CPU under a certain temperature. While downloading drivers, use trusted sources because downloading wrong ones could cause viruses.
