The coffee beans in the grinder are not grinding when I pushed the grinder button.

First, make sure the coffee beans that are being grounded are compatible with the Cuisinart DGB-650. Use the coffee grinder to grind roasted coffee beans only. Grinding other substances, such as nuts, spices or unroasted beans, may dull the blade and cause poor grinding or injury.

If the grinder doesn’t grind coffee beans, check the grinder for the presence of any old coffee beans that can be stuck blocking the grinder blades from grinding the coffee beans. If there are stuck coffee beans then simply cleaning the bean grinder of the Cuisinart can allow the grinder to start grinding the coffee beans.

Grinder blades overtime and after much use, get old and need to be replaced. This can be a reason as to why the grinder doesn’t grind when coffee beans are in the grinder basket. If so, then replacement of grinder blades can be found in our replacement guide [link] and can be ordered online, for example: ebay or amazon.

Water is leaking out of the bottom of the machine

First, take off the bottom compartment of the Cuisinart DGB-650, the water lines will be exposed. Next, see if there is any visible water leaking from the water lines. If there is no visible defect of the water lines, then check the seals. If seals are cracked/split, flex tape can be bought online or at hardware stores as a waterproof sealant.

Coffee does not come out of the machine when I try to make it

First, make sure your coffee maker is plugged into a working outlet, and ensure that the reservoir is filled with water. If the outlet does not work, locate a reset button or find a new outlet. If the pump can be heard running but is not moving water, it may be due to a tube obstruction. Inspect the tubes for calcium buildup and/or other interferences. If this is the case, vinegar can be used to dissolve the buildup. Anti-calcium kits made specifically for cleaning coffee makers can also be ordered online. Cuisinart suggests using charcoal water filters every 60 days to eliminate the possibility of mineral buildup displayed in our guide.

Locate the water level indicator on the right hand side of the machine. This will tell you how much water is in your water reservoir. If the water level is below 3 you may have to add more water into the water reservoir in order for the machine to produce the brewed coffee.

When I push the button to the basket door it does not open

When you push the button to open the basket door, and it stays shut, then there may be an issue with the door’s spring. To check if the spring is broken, press the release button on the left hand side of the machine while pulling the door open. If the door opens while you are pressing the release button and pulling the door open, then there is an issue with the spring.

If the filter basket door won’t open and you’ve checked to make sure that the door spring is working, there could be an issue with the release button. Press the release button to test if it is sticking, or jamming, when pushed. If the button is sticking (like sticking keys on a keyboard) there is an issue with the release button. To resolve this issue, gently clean the button and the edge of the button on the outside of the machine with a wet rag. Next, press the button and pull the door open at the same time. Inside the coffee maker, you’ll find the release button’s corresponding latch on the left hand side of the machine’s interior wall. Clean the latch and surrounding area with the wet rag making sure to remove all food build-up and debris from the space.
