This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the Corsair Katar, an optical computer mouse designed for gaming.

The mouse is plugged into the computer, but will not move on the screen when the user gives input.
The Corsair Katar’s device drivers may not be installed properly, or may be out-of-date. To fix this, download the latest version of the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software. This can be found on Corsair’s website by searching for “Katar” on the Downloads Page. If the site asks you to sign up before downloading the file, just click on “Or skip this step and start Download” under the “Submit” button.
Make sure the Corsair Katar is properly plugged into a USB port. When properly set up, the computer it’s plugged into will recognize the device.
The Corsair Katar has a sensor on the bottom of its shell that tracks mouse movement. It could be dirty and will not pick up movement until it’s cleaned. Use rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth to gently clean the sensor and remove any debris that may be covering it. The Corsair Katar is only compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7 operating systems.
Scroll wheel actions are delayed, or not working properly
Make sure your mouse has the latest drivers installed. To ensure this, download the newest version of the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software. This can be found on Corsair’s website, by searching for “Katar” on the Downloads Page. If the site asks you to sign up before downloading the file, just click on “Or skip this step and start Download” under the “Submit” button.
Over time, dirt and grime can build up on and around the scroll wheel. This can result in delayed or unresponsive movement. Use compressed air to clean the scroll wheel.
It’s possible that dirt and grime have built up inside the mouse, on the wheel sensor itself. Try opening up the mouse and cleaning the wheel sensor. If that doesn’t solve the issue, you may have a defective sensor, which will need to be replaced. See the following guide for instructions: Corsair Katar Scroll Wheel Sensor Replacement.
The left or right click button on the mouse is not responding to commands, or is hard to click.
The mouse may be dirty and in need of cleaning. Use compressed air to clean under the mouse buttons.
Make sure the mouse wire is plugged securely into the USB port. If this does not work, try cleaning the USB port by lightly rubbing it with a Q-Tip. You can also try restarting your computer or switching USB ports.
The DPI button or left and right click buttons inside the mouse may break after a long period of use. If the left or right buttons are broken, you will need to take apart the mouse and replace them. The mouse moves in a slow, dragging manner rather than gliding smoothly.
The surface the mouse is on could be affecting the movement. Try different surfaces, such as paper or a mousepad, to see what works best.
The bottom of the mouse may be dirty. Try cleaning it with a Q-Tip or blowing compressed air to clean the surface and the cracks of the mouse.
The pads on the bottom of the mouse may have worn down. You can replace them by buying new skates to place over the old mouse feet.
The mouse is plugged into the computer, but is not being recognized
The USB port that you plugged into may be faulty, or have out-of-date device drivers. Try another USB port first; if the device still isn’t recognized, update your computer’s USB drivers.
Inspect the Katar’s USB cable for damage. If it feels loose or has exposed wires, it will need to be fixed. It is also possible for it to be faulty, even though no damage is visible. For repair instructions, please consult the following guide: Corsair Katar USB Cable Replacement.
