What you need

Step 1

              CPU               
  • Turn the laptop upside down.
  • Remove all the 3.0mm Phillips #00 screws from the back cover.

  • Remove the battery, RAM, and hard drive.

  • Remove four 1.2mm Phillips #00 screws under the battery.

  • Turn the laptop over, and open the laptop cover.
  • Use a spudger or your hand to carefully remove the keyboard.

  • Use a spudger or your hand to lift the outside frame from the corner of the laptop.

  • Remove all the 1.2mm Phillips #00 screws from the motherboard and in the top corner that secures the fan.

  • Unplug the wires connected to the motherboard with a spudger.

  • Remove the two 3mm Phillips #00 screws beside the fan.

  • Lift the motherboard out carefully.

  • When the motherboard is removed, flip it over, and you will have a view just like in the picture.

  • Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three 2mm screws that connect the fan to the CPU.

  • Remove the fan from the motherboard.
  • When reassembling, you will need to solder the fan back on to the CPU.

  • Use the metal spudger to twist the lock tab on the component.

  • Remove current CPU and replace with new component.
