Introduction
Unfortunately, the buzzer is soldered on the display’s mainboard so it requires a bit of work to take the whole thing apart and unsolder the noisy component.
Do this at your own risk!
This will most likely void your warranty!
What you need
Step 1
Remove the Top Screws
- Take out the water tank
- Remove the 7 screw covers using a flat screwdriver/sharp blade
- Remove the 7 screws using a Phillips screw driver

Step 2
Remove the bottom cover
- Remove the 6 screw covers
- Remove the two rubber covers (front feet). They’re glued using double adhesive tape.
- Remove the screws revealed by removing the covers above
- Remove the bottom cover

Step 3
Detach the top part
- Remove the three screws
- Detach the white plug (press on it for releasing it)
- Slide the top part about 1cm to detach it from the bottom one

Remove the mainboard
- Release the two screws
- Using a prying tool remove the top plastic cover
- Remove the screws that hold the mainboard

Unsolder the Buzzer
- Locate the black buzzer/speaker
- Flip the mainboard and using a soldering iron remove the component. Add a bit of solder on top of the existing one to make detaching easier
- The source of 4AM noise is now removed!

Step 6
Reassemble the device
- After bolting the mainboard, make sure your route the wire as indicated by the red line in the picture (the wire is quite short)
- Reassemble the device in reverse order
- Before trying out the new silent device, make sure you add the water tank (as the panel doesn’t seem to work properly without water)
- Enjoy your quiet sleep!
