What you need

Step 1

              Keyboard               
  • Remove the small rubber circles over all four corners on the bottom of the chromebook.
  • Remove the three small additional rubber covers along edge of computer with hinge.
  • Unscrew all the screws on the bottom of the laptop using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
  • Make sure to keep track of the screws for reassembly.

Step 2

  • Flip the laptop back over to the front and open it so that the keyboard is visible.
  • Use the iFixit opening tool to pry off the keyboard by placing the tool in-between the keyboard and the case. Move the tool around all sides until the keyboard separates.
  • The keyboard will likely be difficult to remove.
  • Be careful to avoid pulling on the ribbons that connect the keyboard to the internal components in order to prevent damage.

  • Carefully unclip the ribbons under the keyboard to disconnect the keyboard.
  • Replace the keyboard and connect the ribbons to the new keyboard.
  • Press the computer case shut and replace the screws and rubber pads.
