  • Once the peg is loose, follow the string down to the fine tuner, and loosen that as well.

  • Remove the string and take out your replacement. Insert the end of the string with the bead in it into the fine tuner slot.

  • With the string in the fine tuner slot, line the string up with the rivet in the bridge.

  • Place the string into the small hole in the peg. Make sure that it gets far enough in!
  • About half an inch of string poking out the other side is optimal.

  • Re-line the string with the bridge, in case it fell out.
  • Make sure that the string is in the position you want it to be - evenly spaced between the strings between them.

  • Twist the peg in the opposite direction that you did before. If the cello is facing towards you, then twist it away from you.
  • Make sure that you do not twist too much! Pluck the string while twisting to make sure the string is not too loose or too tight. You don’t want to snap it!
  • When tightening the peg, make sure that the string is still aligned with the indent on the bridge.
