Introduction

A microphone is a device that is built in within the Canon Vixia HF R62 camera. The main function of the microphone is to modulate the sound waves into electrical signals that can be amplified and recorded.

The microphone needs to be tested first for any problems when the recorded voice quality is deteriorated. The microphone malfunction includes sounds mixed with unwanted noise and the noise becomes clear when the recorded event is displayed. Before jumping to replacing or repairing the microphone, it is imperative to clean the microphone sensor port from any dust particles that could impact the sound quality. Once it is cleaned, another recorded event should be attempted in a quiet environment away from noise in order to compare the sound quality to determine its improvement or its need for further repair actions.

During the repair, make sure to wear an electrostatic protection to protect the camera hardware from any electrical discharge that could happen when hands touch directly the camera’s sensitive equipment elements.
